This Series contains photographs taken during fieldwork at the Minakshi Temple in Madurai by Professor Chris Fuller and Dr Penny Logan from 1976 to 2000. It also includes earlier images of the temple from 1923 to 1933, belonging to a Minakshi priest and captured by unknown photographers.
This Series features photographs taken by Dr Henrike Donner during her fieldwork in Calcutta and West Bengal from 1995 to 2005. The collection also includes three images from an underground journal produced in 1971.
This Series features photographs taken by Professor Deborah James and Santu Mofokeng during fieldwork in South Africa between 1983 and 2003. Professor James, a specialist in the anthropology of South and Southern Africa, initially focused her research on migration and ethnicity, first in rural communities and later in urban settings.
This Series features photographs by Professor Emeritus Peter Loizos, an anthropologist who taught at LSE from 1969 to 2002. Focusing on the lives of Greek Cypriot refugees from the village of Argaki, these images were primarily taken during his fieldwork in 1968-1969 and again in 1975 after the villagers fled during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus.
